The international Mundus Vini competition, at the end of the usual summer tasting, awards a Ermes Cellars the title of Best Italian Producer 2018, delivering 15 gold and silver medals to the Sicilian cooperative.

During the famous competition, held in Germany, 4,311 wines from all over the world were blind tasted, carefully examined and finally evaluated by a jury of experts made up of 175 members from 40 countries.

In a delicate moment such as the complex harvest underway, being named best Italian producer consolidates the belief that results can be achieved with effort and passion, on a land that can be as generous as it is hostile and that requires continuous commitment and dedication .

A recognition that represents not a point of arrival, but an incentive to work harder, as stated by the President of the Cantine Ermes – Tenute Orestiadi group, Rosario Di Maria: “the strength of Cantine Ermes is given by the numerous members, 2,008, by the 8 production sites and, finally, by the territory that composes it: a territory that embraces the three provinces of Trapani, Palermo and Agrigento. From here the Cantine Ermes project takes shape: having grapes coming from different territories and different microclimates and the coexistence of these wines, each rich in a peculiarity, means that they complement each other in the general project of the company. Today we feel honored to have been named Best Italian Producer, it means that in the coming years we should commit ourselves even more than we have already done."

Cantine Ermes is a reality born in Belice Valley exactly 20 years ago from the will and collaboration of some winemakers who, despite the difficulties linked to the post-1968 earthquake, had chosen to remain in their land and, courageously, roll up their sleeves. From then to today, many things have changed: the suppliers have become over 2,000, for 9,141 hectares of vineyards of which approximately a third are grown organically, the establishments have increased, involving numerous geographical areas.

Furthermore, in 2008, a new branch of the company was born and became an integral and highly identifying part of the group: Tenute Orestiadi, a brand dedicated to the Ho.Re.Ca sector. which combines wine and contemporary art, in continuity with a territory that the winery lives to the full and in all its nuances.
