Open Cellars in the 2015 Harvest

In September the scent of the grapes and must welcomes wine enthusiasts to the cellars of the Wine Tourism Movement. It is the moment in which companies come alive with the incessant work in the vineyard and the selection of the best bunches, an evocative period to visit the vineyards, participate together with the winemakers in the grape harvest and the first processing phases. Tenute Orestiadi will welcome you again this year Sunday 6 September from 10 am wine enthusiasts in their cellars, guiding them on a journey to discover their history and their wines through the stories and suggestions of the Gibellina area. The day will be divided into guided tours of the cellar, of the Museums of the Orestiadi Foundation, of Gibellina "Museo En Plein Air", all interspersed with the magical moment of the harvest, the aromatic tastings of the wines of the Orestiadi Estates, the rediscovery of ancient games curated of the Assn. ONE. Finally, in the afternoon, the opening of the “Barrique's Museum” the first Museum of Contemporary Art in a wine cellar that combines oenological culture with visual artistic culture, coordinated by Professor Stefano Pizzi with the patronage ofBrera Academy of Fine Arts.

  • MORNING: "It's harvest time" in the vineyards of Tenute Orestiadi Tasting of 4 wines accompanied by tastings of typical products from the Belicino area Aromatic tasting of Ludovico 2008-2009 and preview of Ludovico 2010 Guided tour of the museums of the “Orestiadi Foundation” Visit guided tour of the “Belice - Epicenter of living memory” museum Guided tour of Gibellina, “Museo En Plein Air” by bicycle S-passo with the donkey “Antonio” organized by the Tinchitè Cultural Association*
  • AFTERNOON: “The rediscovery of ancient games” for adults and children by the Ass. ONE from Gibellina; The “pigiatour” the foot-pressing competition. Inauguration of the “Barriques Musuem”, the first contemporary art museum in an active barrique cellar in Sicily. Plus music with “The Yasmin'S Brother & ECO Streetband”, antique games and much more. Wineshop open to the public with the possibility of purchasing all the Tenute Orestiadi labels

GENERAL INFORMATIONS

  • Entrance ticket: €10.00 (entrance includes tasting glass, tasting of 4 wines paired with local products (sausage, cheeses, yellow melon and dried desserts)
  • Free ticket: 0 - 14 years
  • Aromatic tasting ticket for the 3 vintages (2008-2009-2010) of “LUDOVICO”: €4.00
  • Guided bicycle tour by reservation (max 10 people per session): €2 including bike rental
    Donkey excursions: S-passo with the donkey “Antonio” organized by the Ass. Culturale Tinchitè* (ticket to be purchased in the company)
  • “It's time for the Harvest”: possibility of participating in the harvest of the grapes from which the wines of Tenute Orestiadi are born, with subsequent movement to the production cellar to witness the pressing and fermentation phases, upon reservation.

  • Directions for those arriving from Palermo:
    • A29 motorway towards Mazara del Vallo
    • Salemi exit
    • Gibellina Nuova
    • at the motorway exit, follow the signs for Gibellina
    • continue for about 1 km, after passing the large star “Porta d'Ingresso al Belice” turn left and enter Viale Santa Ninfa (The Baglio delle Tenute Orestiadi is already visible on the hill on your right)
    • continue for about 800 m, on the right you will find signs for Tenute Orestiadi
  • Directions for those arriving from Mazara del Vallo:
    • A29 motorway towards Palermo
    • Salemi exit
    • Gibellina Nuova
