Description

A path that sees Art and Viticulture come closer, touch each other and merge, until they become a single and living material: this is how Opificio Gibellina.
From the meeting between Tenute Orestiadi and theBrera Academy of Fine Arts the desire to express on the label what is breathed in every day takes shape barriques, in which wine finds its most harmonious form and art overturns emotions, touching the most intimate strings of the human soul.
Opificio Gibellina wants to represent, thanks to the contribution of 5 artists - Stefano Pizzi, Gaetano Grillo, Nicola Salvatore, Pietro Coletta, Enzo Esposito - the essence not only of Tenute Orestiadi, but of the city itself, which since its new foundation has had a fundamental fulcrum in art, which daily supports agricultural production aimed at enhancing the peculiarities of the territory.

A Red wine whose grapes are grown right in the Belìce Valley, near the Grande Cretto di Alberto Burri – Vecchia Gibellina, carefully selected and hand-picked.

Color

Dark ruby red.

Nose

Aromas of ripe fruit with acidic notes.

Palate

Fresh, rich, well balanced.

Vinification

15-20 days of maceration on the skins. Maturation for 18 months in 500 liter tonneaux and finally refinement in the bottle for no less than 6-8 months.

Pairings

Spaghetti alla Norma, semi-mature cheeses, mixed grilled meats, baked lamb.

Black Earth

This type of soil is found on the gentle hills of the Trapani hinterland, rich in silty-clayey substances, compact and resistant to drought. Thanks to its characteristics, it is configured as an ideal habitat for the breeding of numerous varieties of both red and white berried vines and becomes for us the perfect soil for the cultivation of Syrah and Nero d'Avola, used not only in purity , also in a blend for the Orestiadi Ludovico, a wine dedicated to Ludovico Corrao and the flagship of the cellar.

Artist

Nicola Salvatore was born in Casalbore (Av) in 1951, lives and works between Como and Marrakech, already holding a chair of painting at the academy of Fine Arts of Brera, Milan.
Path artistic by Nicola Salvatore is marked by a common thread, a recurring presence: the whale. For the artist, since he was a student in his first personal exhibitions, the legendary mammal has been a symbol of inner research. From the beginning of his artistic journey, Nicola Salvatore was invited to participate in some of the most important artistic events contemporaries, in Italy and abroad (Quadrennial of Rome; Biennale of Paris, Biennale of Venice). Through numerous public and private commissions, there are many works by Nicola Salvatore present on Italian territory.
Nicola Salvatore is a explorer of matter, of creativity and art and created the “Trattoria da Salvatore” at his chair of painting at the Brera Academy, a unprecedented combination of art and food, students and great figures of the Italian artistic and intellectual scene. He was also curator forart on ships of the Costa Cruises company.
