Il Rosso di Ludovico

A special tribute to a man who knew how to live the purity of life with simplicity and elegance, savoring its scents, sounds and colors every day: Ludovico Corrao, to whom the Cru line of Tenute Orestiadi is dedicated. Il Rosso di Ludovico, the flagship of an oenological project dedicated to quality, it is a full-bodied, perfectly balanced wine, the result of a love marriage between Nero d'Avola grapes, an ancient Sicilian black pearl, and Cabernet Sauvignon, harvested manually on the gentle slopes of the Trapani hinterland. It ages first in steel (4/6 months), then in French oak barriques for 16/18 months, completing the process in the bottle lying down. An iconic red, both austere and intriguing, unmistakable for its olfactory and gustatory richness.

Color

Intense ruby red with garnet reflections

Nose

Elegant, intense. The bouquet is rich, with notes of ripe red fruits of plum, mulberry, black cherry and blueberry, which alternate and blend with spicy nuances of licorice, tobacco, pepper and cocoa.

Palate

Powerful on the palate with a complex, broad and enveloping structure. The tannins are soft and finely balanced.

Vinification

The wine ages for 4/6 months in steel and then for 16-18 months in French oak barriques. Complete the refinement in the bottle lying down for about 12 months.

It goes well with main courses based on red meat and game. Also ideal with stewed fish and aged cheeses (caciocavallo, ragusano).

This type of soil is found on the gentle hills of the Trapani hinterland, rich in silty-clayey substances, compact and resistant to drought. Thanks to its characteristics, it is configured as an ideal habitat for the breeding of numerous varieties of both red and white berried vines and becomes for us the perfect soil for the cultivation of Syrah and Nero d'Avola, used not only in purity , also in a blend for the Orestiadi Ludovico, a wine dedicated to Ludovico Corrao and the flagship of the cellar.
