Il Bianco di Ludovico

A wine that celebrates the encounter between the Mediterranean and the land, recounting the dream of rebirth and affirmation of a vision of Ludovico Corrao, to whom the "Cru" collection of Tenute Orestiadi is dedicated. A tribute to the dialogue between different cultures that generates future and memory. Il Bianco di Ludovico - a Doc Sicilia Riserva - is a blend of great pleasure and complexity, the result of the union between the autochthonous Catarratto and the international Chardonnay, magnifying the contribution of the hilly terroir of the finest vineyards of Tenute Orestiadi.

Elegant, with a good structure, Ludovico's Cru Bianco is characterized by a bouquet of white-fleshed fruit and notes of jasmine flowers, with hints of flint that gradually become more accentuated with evolution over time.

Bright yellow color with greenish, almost chlorophyll-like reflections

The nose is full of jasmine flowers enriched with hints of white pulp fruit such as plum, apple and lemon, with hints of flint that release a broad sensation of freshness

Roundness and complexity integrate perfectly with a pronounced minerality. A balance of textures on the palate that gives the wine an enveloping vein without ever losing its freshness.

After a cold maceration at 4 degrees for 4 hours, we proceed with the soft pressing followed by a fermentation born from spontaneous yeasts, which lasts twenty days at a controlled temperature. Only at this point Cataratto and Chardonnay meet, becoming the blend of Bianco di Ludovico. This is followed by 6 months of aging on the lees with 2 batonnage a week. For the next 6 months, half of the product ages in French oak tonneaux, half in steel. Once the two are reunited, they spend another 6 months in steel sur lies and at least 4 months in the bottle.

Service temperature

It goes well with Mediterranean dishes based on fish, especially couscous. Also recommended with shellfish and aged cheeses.

Black Earth up to 500 meters a.s.l.

This type of soil is found on the gentle hills of the Trapani hinterland, rich in silty-clayey substances, compact and resistant to drought. Thanks to its characteristics, it is configured as an ideal habitat for the breeding of numerous varieties of both red and white berried vines and becomes for us the perfect soil for the cultivation of Syrah and Nero d'Avola, used not only in purity , also in a blend for the Orestiadi Ludovico, a wine dedicated to Ludovico Corrao and the flagship of the cellar.
