Frappato

DOC Sicily

The Frappato from the "La Selezione" line of Tenute Orestiadi, grown at 200 meters above sea level, on the gentle hills of the Trapani hinterland. A unique of its kind, which manages to guarantee a good production yield, adapting very easily to the dry and windy climate of Western Sicily. The grapes are harvested by hand at the beginning of September, processed in the cellar and left to macerate in contact with the skins. After fermentation at a controlled temperature, around 22/24 °C, we proceed with the refinement: first 4 months in steel, then 8/10 months in French and American oak tonneaux to ensure greater aromatic complexity, finally in the bottle lying down for 6 months. A full-bodied and well-balanced red, characterized by a scent of ripe red fruit, accompanied by the sweetness of vanilla, given by the toasting of the wood. The tannin is soft and well polished, the finish long and persistent.

DOC Sicily

Black earth up to 200 meters a.s.l.

This type of soil is found on the gentle hills of the Trapani hinterland, rich in silty-clayey substances, compact and resistant to drought. Thanks to its characteristics, it is configured as an ideal habitat for the breeding of numerous varieties of both red and white berried vines and becomes for us the perfect soil for the cultivation of Syrah and Nero d'Avola, used not only in purity , also in a blend for the Orestiadi Ludovico, a wine dedicated to Ludovico Corrao and the flagship of the cellar.
