The memorandum of understanding between the Municipality of Gibellina, the Orestiadi Foundation, the Brera Academy of Fine Arts and Tenute Orestiadi was signed today, aimed at starting a restoration project of some works of contemporary art in the city of Belicina.

This morning, at the Baglio Di Stefano, the prestigious headquarters of the Orestiadi Foundation, a meeting took place between the Mayor of Gibellina, Salvatore Sutera, the President of the Orestiadi Foundation, Calogero Pumilia, the Professor responsible for external and international relations of the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera, Stefano Pizzi and the President of the Cantine Ermes – Tenute Orestiadi group, Rosario Di Maria.

A project that has been in the pipeline for some time has thus been formalized: it is Gibellina Restoration, aimed at starting and taking care of the restoration of those works of Gibellina museum en plein air that require maintenance due to erosion due to the passage of time and climatic conditions.

Gibellina Restoration, included in the broader territorial marketing plan Destination Gibellina, once again turns the spotlight on an extremely rich territory from an artistic, cultural and food and wine point of view, coinciding precisely with the fiftieth anniversary of the earthquake which radically changed the fate and history of the Belìce Valley.

In fact, 2018 will be the year in which we will move on to the operational phase of the project: the teachers of the Academy's Restoration School will move for a period to Gibellina to work in the field, where they will find the support of the Municipality, Foundation and Estates Orestiadi, each according to their own skills. Precisely in these days the teachers who will take care of the technical part, Donatella Bonelli and Elisa Isella, are carrying out inspections to evaluate the current conditions and establish which works to start the collaboration with.

There is great communion of intent between the signatories of the protocol, who recognize that what has been taken today is a big step - following the lines traced by Ludovico Corrao - towards the ever-increasing protection of the enormous artistic heritage of Gibellina, whose value is inestimable and recognized globally.
